Architecture as Inspiration

There’s much inspiration to be found in architectural sources. In the first part of this workshop join Linda to see how she worked from windows, grilles and other architectural features from a nearby church to create pages in her sketchbook filled with pattern and design information.

In the second part of the class working from an architecture inspired sketchbook, Linda demonstrates how to take a motif and develop it into a stencilled and printed pattern on fabric. She uses paper and plastic stencils, then hand cut foam blocks for printing. See how she uses different scales of motif and a variety of backgrounds to create a range of results that will be perfect for developing into stitched textiles.

Making prints on fabric is lots of fun, but what to do with them? In this third workshop Linda will encourage you to be brave and chop them up for piecing with great results.

There are three video workshops in this collection.
