Art Kit Essentials

Well if you’ve been following along with recent blog posts, you’d be forgiven for thinking my studio would be ship shape by now. Unfortunately not, we’re in the midst of renovations which means nothing is where it should be. But more on that another time, I’m hoping that soon I’ll be able to show you how lovely it all looks!

In the meantime, I’ve retreated to working in the lounge with a kit of essentials. If you’re pushed for space, this is a great option. Find a suitable container, I’m using a wooden toolbox my Grandad made for me years ago. A plastic crate or basket would work just as well.

In my essentials kit I’ve got:

a few brushes including one for gel medium (for collage), a smallish round, a flat and a filbert.

acrylic paint in yellow, blue, red, black and white. If you’re interested, my exact colours are Titanium White (heavy body), Carbon Black, Raw Sienna, Quinacridone Violet, and Cerulean Blue Deep (all fluid acrylic). I find with those or similar, I can mix pretty much all the colours I want to use.

Soft gel (matte), any matte gel medium will be fine.

Sketchbooks (I’m working in two right now)

A couple of fine liner pens

Some graphite pencils (I like conventional pencils and propelling ones), and watersoluble pencils (coloured and graphite)

Scissors, sharpeners and an eraser, water pot and flat palette.

And that’s pretty much all I need to keep me happy and busy!

We’ll be back soon.
Bye for now,

Laura
