Well after last week’s cultural photos from London, this week I greet you with….
But seriously, don’t you just think that inspiration can be found everywhere, from beautiful landscapes and architecture to the rusted, paint-laden surfaces of an old skip.
We’re having work done at home, hence the skip, I think the workers thought I had gone quite bonkers when they saw me jump in the skip to take photos of it. Little do they know of the lengths that we go to for art’s sake!
I am sure these photos would make amazing digitally printed fabrics. Just imagine half a yard of each – yes please!
We’ve mentioned the TV show Portrait Artist of the Year to you before as it’s a programme we really enjoy. It was previously only available on Sky Arts, but Channel 4 are now showing it which means you can catch the series on 4OD.
This week we have another brand new video workshop for you on DesignMatters TV. Our subscribers can log in now to watch me make some glorious painted papers using a really easy batik technique. I just love these! Look out for them making an appearance in my sketchbook and mixed media work over the next few weeks. In the video I’ll demonstrate just how to make your own stash of beautiful papers like these.
DMTV Members can view this video now, if you’re not a Member why not consider joining us? You can check out our free videos to give you a taste of what we offer and sign up for access to over 30 videos for just £12.
Free Video: Altered Book – Nests and Eggs
You know we love altered books and we always want to inspire everyone else to make them too! There’s a new flip-through video of Linda’s Nests and Eggs book which will hopefully give you ideas for your next altered book. Take a look at the video on our Free Stuff page.
Thank you for reading our newsletter this week. We’ll be back again soon with more.
Love Linda and Laura xx
