The Power of Creativity, Vermeer, Altered Books, Plant Printing

Well it’s official! Being creative is good for your health: a report based on a test commissioned by BBC Arts has shown that creativity can boost your mood, help you avoid stress and build self-esteem. The BBC website has information and links to quite a few resources that you might find interesting. Here’s a link to the Get Creative section.

While browsing, I came across this interesting video about the restoration of a Vermeer painting which revealed a whole new character in the painting!

Of course we have lots to inspire your creativity this week too. Have you seen the flip-through video of Linda’s altered book Crow?

This free video is one of the resources that you’ll find on the new Archive pages. So far we have one for Altered Books, one for Fabric Dyeing, Sketchbooks, and one for Monoprinting. Look out for lots more being added over the coming weeks.

New Video Workshop

Thank you for all your lovely, positive feedback on the plant printing and concertina book workshops over the last couple of weeks. Of course we think the printing and the bookbinding is just the start! Join Linda today to see how you can take your prints further using coloured pencil and watercolour.
In today’s video you’ll get a close look at Linda’s prints and she’ll demonstrate how to add detail, refine the prints and adjust the tonal contrast. It might sound daunting, but you’ll see how straightforward it is to respond to what’s on the page and really make it your own.

DMTV Members can view this video now, if you’re not a Member why not consider joining us? You can check out our free videos to give you a taste of what we offer and sign up for access to over 30 videos for just £12.
