Seaside Escapes and Exploring the Archives

Well it’s back to school time here but not before we escaped for a few days at the coast. It wouldn’t be summer without getting blown away on the sand, ice-cream cornets and catching crabs in a bucket.
I took my sketchbook along, but I confess, it stayed in my bag. I took lots of photographs though and have plans to do a little landscape drawing, maybe even some painting. Don’t hold your breath though, now I’m back home the list of jobs is long and suddenly the luxury of time is not with me. I should have made more of an effort while I was away!
I always think September, with the new school year, is a great time to embark on new projects and tackle those jobs on the list. What are your plans? Maybe you’d like to learn something new, or find fresh inspiration for your sketchbooks or quilt making. With our political state in such disarray, the pound is running low against many other currencies so if you’re outside the UK it’s perhaps not a bad time to treat yourself to a DMTV subscription or some videos from our Archives. Every cloud has a silver lining and all that!
Since we last wrote we have added Paint Pounded Scarf to the Archives. It’s a two-video workshop, the first episode demonstrating how to make beautifully hand painted fabrics using Linda’s special technique, and the second video showing you how to use your fabrics to make a scarf with hand stitched details.

You’ll find this and lots, lots more in the ArchivesYou can browse everything or search by categories to find things that are right up your street.
Here’s a little taster of what’s on offer:

This is just a few of the Archive collections, there are now 60 to choose from! Browse through everything we have on offer here…
Don’t forget, you don’t need a subscription to purchase an Archive, the Archives are a separate ‘pick n mix’ option. You have access to the workshops for as long as you like and can watch them over and over without limits.

New Video Workshop – Stamped Sketchbook Textures

We’re back working in our sketchbooks on DesignMatters TV this week. Use your favourite stamps and stencils to add texture to your sketchbook. Linda will show you how this simple method creates interesting surfaces on your pages which are just perfect for accepting generous washes of luscious colour.
DMTV Members can view this video now, if you’re not a Member why not consider joining us? You can check out our free videos to give you a taste of what we offer and sign up for access to over 30 videos for just £12.
