What’s new on the website, Easy Batik Fabrics, Birdsong wallhanging

There seems to be lots to tell you about this week, but I’ll try not to make this newsletter too long! First of all, thank you to everyone who took the time to write to us since last week’s newsletter. Your feedback is really valuable to us and confirms what we suspected – that you have wide and varied interests, and are working with different levels of experience! While it’s impossible to please all of the people all of the time, we’re going to continue to bring you a lively mix of workshops, basically doing what we love because we think if we like it, then chances are you will too. That said, we’re working on some exciting developments which will make it easier for you to get to just the content that you want. It’s good to know, based on your emails, that we’re on the right track.

So what’s new?

The new features on the website will be rolling out gradually over the coming weeks and months. Don’t forget, it’s just the two of us here, so it takes time to get everything done.

The Classrooms

Next time you visit the website, you might spot that we’ve changed the name of the Video Archives to Classrooms. In each of these Classrooms (four so far) we’ll be grouping together the workshops, blogs and other information that’s particular to that subject. Say for instance you want to find out about Fabric Dyeing today, just head to that Classroom and you’ll find all we have to offer on that subject. We’ll be constantly adding to the resources that you’ll find in the Classrooms so do check back often on your favourite topics.

Classroom Credits

Also new on the website this week you’ll find Classroom Credits. These are available to buy in the Store and you can choose from a range of values. Your credits are applied to your account and you can spend them on anything you want to across the website, so things in the shop and video workshops.

Why have we done this?
Many of our viewers are based outside of the UK and we are aware that you were often being charged an overseas transaction fee by your bank or credit card provider. This is extremely annoying when you just want to spend £3 on a workshop collection! So if you anticipate purchasing a number of workshops, we suggest that you buy a single transaction of Classroom Credits which you can then use against the purchase of multiple workshops at your leisure. You can top up your credit at any time and see how much you have in your Account pages.
Using your Classroom Credit is simple. As soon as you buy them, they’ll be added to your account. Then when you want to purchase something on the site, just add it to your basket and checkout as normal. You’ll see your available credit in the basket and can choose to apply it, or pay the usual way. Your credit will be debited and balance adjusted.
I hope that all makes sense. If you need help or have questions, you know where we are.

New Video Workshop – Easy Batik Fabrics

I’m back in the studio today and following on from the recent Polka Dot Papers workshop, I’m applying a similar technique to fabric. Come and join me to see how to build up beautiful layers of colour to make fabulous one of a kind fabrics like these. I’m using a batik technique and just some simple equipment.

New to the Library – Birdsong

We know so many of you enjoy monoprint so we’ve picked out a lovely monoprint project to go into the video workshop library today. In this two-part class you’ll learn how to monoprint on fabric using a combination of mark making and stencils with Laura, then Linda will guide you through adding dimensional appliqué and quilting to make a charming panel that could be a wallhanging or cushion. Don’t worry if you’re not confident with drawing your own birds, a pattern sheet is provided.

This video collection is £3 and available now.
Thank you for reading our newsletter this week. We’ll be back again soon with more.
Love Linda and Laura xx
