In the first session Linda will advise you on where to find good reference material for your painting, plus she’ll share some tips of working out the composition that’ll suit the little painting.

Birds are such an inspiration to us, whether it’s big black crows in the fields, or the pretty garden birds that visit the feeders outside the studio. In this collection of workshops Linda will show you her methods for painting birds using acrylics on wooden panel and canvas. Suitable for beginners or the more experienced artist, Linda will guide you through, step by step.

Use monoprint with stencils to create a bird motif on fabric before adding appliqué and stitch to make a beautiful stitched textile that could be displayed as a wall quilt or made into a cushion.

In this set of two videos Linda shows exactly how she chooses a suitable photograph as reference, drafts a pattern, selects the perfect fabrics and uses double-sided fusible webbing to create an appliqué panel. She’ll demonstrate free motion quilting and the final details that will make your panel stand out from the ordinary. You’ll see step by step how to recreate something similar whether you choose to work with a bird motif as Linda does or choose your own source of inspiration – the techniques will work beautifully for any appliqué subject.
