Painterly Landscape

In this video collection Linda demonstrates exactly how she uses a combination of acrylic paints and inks to create simple little landscapes on watercolour paper and box canvases before developing the same theme into fabric and thread. She produces several decorative, paintings and panels that would be perfect in your own home or would make great gifts. The videos include everything you need to know to create your own landscapes in a variety of formats.

This workshop has two videos.

Painterly Acrylic Landscape – Part 1

In the first video Linda shows step by step how she paints a beautiful landscape using acrylic paints and inks. She explains the differences between opaque and transparent colours and demonstrates how she uses their particular characteristics in combination. Beginning with an underpainting, she shows how she adds subsequent layers of fluid colour build a painterly result. Once the painting is complete, fine details are added with pigment pens.

Painterly Acrylic Landscape- Part 2

In the second video of this collection Linda shows how she takes her artwork a step further by using her paintings to inspire several fabric and thread panels. She creates a base fabric by needlefelting a variety of materials on her embellisher machine and then shows exactly how she uses fluid acrylic inks to paint on silk to represent the treeline in the landscape.  Final details are added with hand stitch before the panel is mounted onto a painted box canvas.
