DMTV viewers will know I’ve been working into the second of the handmade printed books that Laura gave me recently. This is a larger book with some of her beautiful prints to respond to.
Sometimes that just means adding washes of colour.
And sometimes I combine wet colour with oil pastel.
Of course I can’t resist including a bit of collage from time to time. The bird is a monoprint on deli paper, cut out and glued to the page with gel medium.
It wouldn’t be my sketchbook without a few birds would it? This one was a stencilled outline made with oil pastel and painted with indigo and sepia watercolour paints.
I love how the ‘bloom’ in the paint has created his pale throat – sometimes the paint does all the work without much interference from me. That’s the best thing about watercolour – use lots of water and let it do its own thing!
I hope like me you are enjoying working into your own printed sketchbooks!
Bye for now,
Linda
